Turtles in Colorado

I try and take a walk every day for exercise and reflection.  We have a great trail system in my neighborhood.  There is usually something to see like geese, pelicans, cranes, frogs, snakes and rabbits, but yesterday was a first.  I saw a turtle.  My first thought was "we have turtles this large in Colorado?!".  After taking several photos of the turtle, I hurried home and had to Google turtles in Colorado.  Come to find out there are 5 different species of turtles that are native to Colorado.  I am not sure what I saw.  I think it was as Yellow Mud Turtle but it was hard to tell.  I didn't want to get too close.  From now on I am going to be on the look out for more wildlife that I didn't know existed in Colorado.

I blend in very well with the natural surroundings.
