Let it Snow

We had our first snow of the season and the first hard freeze last week.  The temperature last Wednesday went from 80 degrees at 3 pm to 40 degrees by 6 pm.  When the storm moved out, it was 16 degrees Friday morning.  It was quite the effort to get all of the plants bathed, watered and brought in for for the winter.  I can't remember the last time we had a temperature drop like this, maybe 5 plus years ago.  This time I decided I need to be more proactive about protecting the perennials in the yard.  Actually, there is one thing I could do and that was water and make sure the roots were in moist soil.  There is still a good chance in the spring that I will have to cut back plants more aggressively, but I am mostly concerned with making sure everything lived.  I guess I will find out in the spring if my efforts paid off.
