I am so pleased with how my "designer" succulents pots turned out. I have noticed that buying pre-made succulent pots has become even more popular and more expensive. The last time I was at Whole Foods they had terracotta pots with hens and chicks for $20. Yes, just ordinary hens and chicks like I have all over my yard. I thought that was crazy.
The last couple of years I have collected (free of charge) leftover succulent pots from people who received them as gifts and then had no idea what to do with them when fall/winter comes. This spring I decided I would repot the succulents and see how they would do. They have thrived. I have done nothing special as far as soil or watering. They are in regular potting soil and then I mulch them with small gravel. They are in full sun and I occasionally hit them with water when I think about it. I hope I can keep them going through the winter so I can reuse them next year.
There are about 15 different varieties in the all of the pots. I only bought the Aeonium "Jack Catlin" on a whim. I have tried to grow this plant or different varieties several times over the years and I always kill it. Not this year. Even my husband commented on the fact that I had not killed this plant this year. I guess he is paying more attention to what I am doing than I realize.

Thank you for not killing me this year. |
