March is the snowiest month in Colorado. So far, we have had two nice snow storms. Yes, I say nice because I like snow and I understand how important it is to my garden in the spring. The more spring snow the fuller the perennials will be. It does get trickier if we get a heavy wet snow in May because of the new foliage on the trees, etc but no complaints about snow in the spring.
This weeks storm was crazy. It rained Tuesday night into Wednesday and then turned to snow by mid-Wednesday morning. All of the rain froze and the whole north side of my house was an icicle. The wind - it created incredible snow drifts around the house. It is hard to tell how much snow we got because of the drifts. I think anywhere from 4 to 6 inches. I am basing this off of the snow I shoveled from the driveway and sidewalk. It was heavy wet snow. It took forever to shovel.
