My patience has paid off and my snail flower plant is finally blooming. I started it from seed about four years ago. I purchased the seeds from Seed Savers and there were only five in the packet. Only two sprouted. The plant didn't grow much the first summer and I almost killed it that following winter. I was about ready to throw it out when I realized it was still alive. I repotted it and it has done okay. Keeping it alive in the winter has been challenging. Usually by spring, most of the leaves have fallen off. It was outside last year during the hail storm and survived. This year I have been carefully watching it and talking nicely to it. It is covered with flowers, but only a few have opened. The wasps love it and I didn't realize till last night that it smells incredible.
