Poor Fred

I finally took the time this last weekend and repotted some plants that were in bad shape.  One that really needed some help was my Graptoveria 'Fred Ives' - more commonly known in my house as "Poor Fred".  I bought Poor Fred in 2012 at the Salt Lake City Farmers Market, which is a wonderful Farmers Market.  It took a great deal of will power not to go on a spending spree and buy, buy, and buy.  Anyhow, Poor Fred had gotten too tall and had started to grow side ways because it was top heavy.  If I had been smart I would have take care of the situation during the summer but I didn't.  This weekend I chopped off the larger portion of the plant and repotted it.  The amazing thing about succulents is you can cut them off and stick them in dirt to continue growing.  Now I have two Fred Ive's - a large one and smaller one with three smaller babies.

Growing the wrong direction.

It started rooting into the pot that was holding it up.

I cut off about 12 inches

Three new babies.  One is hiding.

Not exactly what I wanted.  I had another pot selected, but the stem/stalk of the plant was too curved and I didn't want to cut off much more so it is not perfectly aligned in the pot, but once it gets growing I can always repot it (again).
