Goodbye Lemon Tree

I have officially had it!! The lemon tree has been dumped in the vegetable garden to die.  It is kinda silly but I do have slight guilt for giving up on it.  I rarely give up on plants and purposely kill them, but I just don't have the energy anymore to care for a needy and selfish plant.  That is a little harsh maybe a little melodramatic, but it is hard to take care of plant that technically should grow outside all year around.  The bugs - scale, aphid and mealy bugs - are a constant threat and fight once they establish themselves.  This time of year I have to clean it regularly and try not to over water it so it won't defoliate.  I was tempted to buy a brand new plant and start fresh, but no.  It is time to try new things.  I am not exactly sure what that means, but when it appears I will know it.

Please don't feel sorry for it.  It is covered with scale!
