I have gotten very serious with the yard clean up. With all of the hard work comes the normal aches and pains the following morning. This year it is my mid to upper back and backs of thighs that are uncomfortable this morning. What confuses me is why this section of my back and what are these muscles? Can I do exercises to strength that area or is gardening doing that for me? I am going with gardening as the key to strengthening that portion of my back and a little Advil to make it through the day.
I have one small portion of the yard cut back and it seems a bit more daunting this year. Someone asked me last fall about how much cutting and clean up I have to do every year. It is insane the amount of work. Most of the perennials in my yard have to be cut back to the ground every year because they put on brand new growth instead of coming back on existing. Even the plants that come back on existing growth have to be pruned. I am beginning to question my mental sanity but I love it and it will be worth it in just a month when everything has truly taken off.
