Gardening in December

It is December 13 and I woke up the morning and the temperature was already 45 degrees.  The high is supposed to be in the mid-50s.  There is no real change in the weather till we are closer to Christmas.  Had I known the last couple of months were going to be so unseasonably warm I would have planted some cool weather crops because the broccoli that I planted last spring is still growing and producing florets.  I am not getting ton of broccoli to eat but I am getting enough to have for lunch a couple times a week.  I am also amazed at how well it is growing with no additional water.  The plants are mulched with leaves but that is obviously enough to protect the plants and retain some moisture.  I hope next year I don't have this same problem of the weather being too nice and still enjoying a few fruits of my labor in December!

The plant is more exposed to the elements and not producing much at all, but still growing

I should be eat the greens!!

Little tiny florets!!
