My roses took a beating this last winter. I had to cut back all of the repeat bloomers. The cold snap in the fall dried up all of the existing canes. On the other hand, the roses that bloom once did great this winter. I am not sure what that means.
Last year, there was some die back but I did not have to cut back all of the repeat bloomers. In most instances, I just cut back half of the rose. Based on last's year experience I know they will come back but it is still stressful.
