This year I planted a pot with two Stupice tomatoes and two eggplant. This is my hail pot. In case of hail or other horrific acts of nature, this pot can be brought inside. Last night around 7 pm it started to storm and there was hail. Mostly small hail. I brought everything in that was on the back patio including my hail pot. The storm passed. Nothing major and I decided I would put the pots back out in the morning. That was a brilliant idea because about 10:45 pm the skies opened and we had pounding rain and hail. Hard to say how much hail because the rain and wind were so bad.
I have been outside this morning touring the yard. There is some minor damage. The tops of the butterfly bush on west side of the house are damaged. Some of the roses are drooping. The squash in the garden has holes in the leaves. The tomatoes are missing some leaves. Overall not too bad. I suspect everything will be okay.
My neighbor has specific instructions that if we are out of town, this is the pot to save.
