We are extremely lucky. This past week was insane. Our basement didn't flood and we didn't have to evacuate.
I have never seen so much rain. I am not even sure of the exact totals. I have heard had this been snow it would have been around 150 inches. I can't even imagine that.
Our current home is fairly close to the Poudre River. I remember when the subdivision was being built and how we laughed about the stupid people buying houses so close to the river. Anyhow . . .
In years with high snow pack and then melting, there is flooding and sometimes roads are closed, but we have never been nervous about it. This time was different. We certainly had the chance to think about what we would take if we had to leave.
The pictures are from Thursday, Sept. 12 through Sept. 14. We didn't go out on Sunday, the 15th because it was raining. I tried to include comparable photos so you can see how much the water rose within just a couple of days.

Saturday, Sept 14. It looks like the road is gone, but it is the water and debris. In years past, the river doesn't flood at this point. It comes over the road further down. |

It's just been crazy! I'm so glad you were spared this time around. :)
